How to score a cricket match

Record runs, extras, wickets, a new batter, an over change, both innings, and the final cricket scorecard.

In this tutorial

1Open the assigned cricket matchMove from the Organizer dashboard to the Scorer dashboard and open the assigned live match.
Scorer dashboard
Open it from the account and workspace menu. It lists only matches assigned to the signed-in scorer.
Assigned live match
Open the reserved tutorial cricket fixture. Its synchronized starting checkpoint and every following mutation are isolated from the mobile variant.
Scoring control
On desktop this action is in the match header. On mobile, open Match actions first and then choose Scoring control.
After this step
The assigned live cricket match opens with Scoring control ready on both desktop and mobile.
2Own and synchronizeConfirm this device owns scoring and has no pending events.
Prepared scoring device
Only the device holding the current scoring lease can add or undo events. Keep using this device throughout this tutorial.
Synchronization states
Every scoring tap is first kept in the local append-only queue and, while online, immediately reconciled with the server revision.
Synced: There are no local events waiting to upload.
Waiting to sync: Continue only on this prepared device; reconnect and use Synchronize pending events before leaving it.
Need review: An event was safely blocked after ownership or server history changed and was not added to the official score.
Synthetic starting state
The recording starts in a five-over innings after one synchronized dot ball, with no active device owner. It contains only reserved tutorial teams and players.
After this step
This device controls the live match and the seeded opening delivery is synchronized.
3Record runsUse the large mobile-first buttons for a dot, a single, and a boundary.
Run buttons
Each button records one delivery with the selected runs off the bat.
Dot: Records zero runs and one legal ball.
1 or 3: Records the runs and swaps striker and non-striker because an odd number was completed.
2: Records two runs and keeps the same striker.
4 or 6: Records a boundary in batter and bowler figures while keeping the same striker.
Mobile-first layout
The current score, batting ends, this-over balls, and primary scoring buttons stay compact so a phone scorer can work without a wide table.
Change strike
Use the separate Change strike control only when officials confirm the displayed batting ends are wrong; ordinary odd runs and over completion change strike automatically.
After this step
Three legal deliveries are added and the score, strike, over, batter figures, and bowler figures update.
4Record extrasOpen Extras and add the correct type and number of runs.
Extra type
Choose the exact umpire signal before entering the run totals.
Wide (WD): Adds wide extras and does not count as a legal ball. Additional completed runs can also change the batting end.
No-ball (NB): Adds the no-ball penalty plus any Runs off bat. It is not a legal ball, but a non-wide ball still counts in the batter's balls faced.
Bye (BYE): Adds team extras on a legal ball without adding runs to the batter or charging them to the bowler.
Leg bye (LB): Adds leg-bye extras on a legal ball without adding runs to the batter or charging them to the bowler.
Extra runs
Enter the total extra allocation shown by the officials; the app includes the wide or no-ball penalty in this value.
Runs off bat
This is enabled only for a no-ball. Keep it at zero for a wide, bye, or leg bye.
After this step
One wide is added without using a legal delivery.
5Record a wicketChoose the dismissal and its required fielding details before recording it.
Dismissal options
The dismissal choice controls which batter and fielding details can be entered.
Bowled: Dismisses the striker and credits the current bowler.
Caught: Dismisses the striker, requires a catcher, allows an optional different assist fielder, and credits the bowler.
LBW: Dismisses the striker and credits the current bowler.
Run out: Can dismiss either batter, requires the first fielder, allows a different assist, records completed runs, and does not credit the bowler.
Stumped: Dismisses the striker, requires the wicketkeeper, and credits the bowler.
Hit wicket: Dismisses the striker and credits the current bowler.
Obstructing field: Allows the involved striker or non-striker to be selected and does not require a fielder or credit the bowler.
Retire batter
Retired hurt and retired out are recorded between deliveries in the separate Retire batter panel, not as wicket-panel dismissal options.
Record wicket now
Adds the wicket before asking for the next batter. This keeps the score correct even if the incoming player is not yet known.
After this step
A caught dismissal is added immediately and scoring pauses for the incoming batter.
6Select incoming batterFill the vacant batting end before recording another ball.
Required checkpoint
Run crossing and an over-ending wicket can change which end is vacant. The app calculates that end from the recorded delivery.
Eligible batters
The list excludes both active batters and anyone already dismissed, and includes only confirmed players from the batting squad.
Confirm batter
Creates a separate auditable incoming-batter event. Run, extras, and wicket buttons remain disabled until it succeeds.
After this step
The incoming batter fills the correct vacant end and normal scoring is enabled again.
7Undo the latest eventReverse the most recent scoring event before entering the corrected ball.
Last-in, first-out
Undo reverses only the latest active event. If an older mistake must be corrected, keep undoing in order and then re-enter the correct events.
Audit history
Undo adds a reversal; it does not delete the original scoring row. Both remain available for review.
Offline undo
A reversal can queue on the prepared device, but it must synchronize before the official server score is fully reconciled.
After this step
A temporary single that completed the over is reversed, returning the innings to five legal balls.
8Complete over and inningsFinish the over, choose a different bowler, then close the innings on the officials' instruction.
Over completion
After the sixth legal ball, strike changes automatically and scoring pauses until the next bowler is selected. Wides and no-balls do not consume a legal ball.
Next bowler
The previous-over bowler is excluded because one bowler cannot deliver consecutive overs in the same innings.
Innings end reasons
Automatic match state takes priority when the overs finish, the side is all out, or the chase target is reached.
Completed: Use when officials close an innings that is otherwise complete.
All out: Used automatically when the last available batting partnership is broken.
Target reached: Used automatically when the chasing side reaches the target.
Declared / closed: Use only when officials end the innings early; this is the tutorial choice.
Team retired: Records that the team retired the innings on the officials' instruction.
After this step
The over transition is confirmed and the first innings ends at seven runs with a target of eight.
9Start the chaseReview the first innings, then choose the chase openers and bowler.
First-innings scorecard
The innings break preserves batting figures, extras, wickets, overs, and fall-of-wicket details for review.
Target
The chasing side must score one more than the first-innings total; seven runs therefore creates a target of eight.
Chase openers
Choose two different players from the second batting team and one opening bowler from the defending team. The toss is not entered again.
After this step
The second innings starts with a target of eight and the confirmed chase players.
10Finish and review resultReach the target, confirm the result, and review both innings scorecards.
Automatic chase finish
As soon as the chasing score reaches the target, normal delivery buttons stop and the completion panel explains that the target was reached.
Confirm result
Ends innings two, synchronizes the terminal event, and locks ordinary scoring for this completed match.
Final result
The winner and margin are derived from the two innings and playing squad; the scorer does not type a result manually.
Completed scorecards
Expand either innings to review batter figures, extras, wickets, overs, and fall-of-wicket details.
After this step
The match is complete, scoring is locked, and the final result with both innings scorecards is visible.

Two innings are completed from a safe synthetic starting state and the final result with both scorecards is visible.
