How to prepare a cricket match for scoring

Secure scoring to one device, record the toss decision, choose the opening players, and start the first innings.

In this tutorial

1Open the assigned cricket matchMove from the Organizer dashboard to the Scorer dashboard and open the assigned synthetic match.
Scorer dashboard
Open it from the account and workspace menu. It lists only matches assigned to the signed-in scorer.
Assigned match
Open the reserved tutorial cricket fixture from its assignment card; its teams and players are synthetic.
Scoring control
On desktop this action is in the match header. On mobile, open Match actions first and then choose Scoring control.
After this step
The assigned cricket match opens with Scoring control ready on both desktop and mobile.
2Secure this deviceStart scoring on the device that will stay with the scorer.
One active device
Scoring ownership prevents two phones or computers from publishing different ball-by-ball histories at the same time. This tutorial keeps control on one device.
Connection and synchronization
The prepared device can queue scoring safely during a connection problem and upload pending events when the connection returns.
Synced: The browser has no unpublished scoring actions and its visible history agrees with the server checkpoint.
Waiting to sync: One or more locally recorded actions still need to be uploaded from this same prepared device.
Synchronize pending events: Use this after connectivity returns; confirm that pending is zero before leaving the scoring device.
Device recovery
Moving ownership is an exceptional recovery action because unsynchronized events on the old device cannot be copied automatically. Real multi-device handover is outside this tutorial.
After this step
This device controls scoring and reports that no actions are waiting to synchronize.
3Record the tossChoose the toss winner and whether that team will bat or bowl first.
Toss winner
Choose one of the two resolved match teams. Changing this selection clears any opening-player choices so players cannot remain attached to the wrong innings side.
Decision
The decision determines which team supplies the opening batters and which team supplies the opening bowler.
Bat first: The toss winner becomes the first batting team; this is the tutorial choice.
Bowl first: The other team bats first and the toss winner supplies the opening bowler.
After this step
The batting and bowling teams are derived from the recorded toss decision.
4Choose opening playersSelect two different batters and one bowler from the correct teams.
Striker
The striker faces the first delivery and is marked on strike in the live scorecard.
Non-striker
Choose a different player from the same batting squad. The app blocks starting an innings with the same batter at both ends.
Opening bowler
Choose a confirmed player from the bowling squad. Batters from the batting team cannot be selected in this control.
Player profile links
The small profile link helps the scorer confirm a player without changing the selected squad identity.
After this step
Two valid opening batters and one valid opening bowler are selected.
5Review and startConfirm the toss, batting side, openers, and bowler before going live.
Toss summary
Confirms the winner and its bat-or-bowl decision before the immutable innings-start event is added.
Opening-player summary
Confirms both batting ends and the bowler. Use Back if any player is incorrect; the previous selections stay filled in.
Start innings
Creates the opening scoring event, changes the match to live scoring, and reveals the compact run, extras, and wicket controls.
After this step
The first innings is live and the mobile-first scoring buttons are ready for the first ball.

Expected result

The scorer's device owns the match and the first cricket innings starts with the confirmed toss and opening players.
