1Open Scoring controlOpen the assigned match from Scorer dashboard and inspect its device controls.
Reach the controls
Select the match row, then its offered scoring action. On desktop, choose Scoring control in the match header. On mobile, open Match actions and choose Scoring control.
Access and sport
Use an account assigned to the match or its tournament. The device-control workflow applies to both cricket and football. Completed results use the approved correction flow.
After this step
Open the assigned match from Scorer dashboard and inspect its device controls.
2Read ownership and synchronization togetherCheck the device ownership message and the synchronization status before acting.
Ownership states
The ownership message describes whether this device can record events.
Scoring is not active here — No scoring control has been claimed here. Connect before starting.
This device controls scoring — This device owns the active scoring session. Check synchronization before continuing or moving elsewhere.
Another device controls scoring — The screen is view-only until control is explicitly moved. This can also mean another device using the same account.
Refreshing the score — Wait for the latest confirmed score to load. Controls remain unavailable until it is safe to continue.
Synchronization states
Read the pending and blocked counts separately.
Synced — The loaded local queue has no actions waiting or blocked. Review the actual score as well.
Waiting to sync — Actions are still local. Synchronize them while this device still controls scoring.
Need review — Blocked actions were not applied after control moved. Preserve the device's history and reconcile with officials.
Online or Offline — Initial claim and takeover require connectivity. Offline continuation belongs on the prepared device.
After this step
Check the device ownership message and the synchronization status before acting.
3Start scoring on this deviceWhen scoring is available, choose Start scoring on this device and wait for preparation.
Before claiming
Check the match and make sure another scorer is not actively using it. Wait while Preparing is shown.
Claim completed
Begin recording only when This device controls scoring is displayed and the score is ready. If the claim reports that another device has control, review the takeover warning instead.
Connection not verified
If the scoring connection cannot be verified, refresh the scoring workspace and reconnect. Do not treat an unavailable control check as an unowned match.
After this step
When scoring is available, choose Start scoring on this device and wait for preparation.
4Take control only after reviewing the warningWhen another device controls the match, choose Take scoring on this device.
Takeover confirmation
The in-app warning explains the immediate effect.
Cancel — Keep the current scorer in control if the move is not needed.
Take scoring — Confirm the move while online. This does not require approval from the old scorer or organizer.
Old-device authority — The old device immediately loses scoring authority. Its unsynchronized events are blocked and may need reconstruction with match officials.
Latest score loading — Wait through Loading revision and the refreshed score message. Do not record another event until the new device is ready.
Before switching
Ask the old scorer to synchronize first when possible. A takeover is not a way to merge separate offline versions of the match.
After this step
When another device controls the match, choose Take scoring on this device.
5Synchronize pending events or stop for reviewUse Synchronize pending events when online and the device still has actions waiting.
Successful synchronization
Wait for the operation to finish and check All recorded events are synchronized, the Synced indicator, and the scorecard.
Conflict or lost ownership
If synchronization stops because ownership changed or the server has newer events, stop. Review both versions with the organizer and officials. The blocked actions were not applied.
Undo last event
When available, this reverses the latest active scoring event on the device. Synchronize the reversal when connectivity returns. It is not an instruction to erase blocked history.
Connection or reconciliation failure
Keep the device's saved work and reconnect. If the service cannot verify ownership, wait for it to recover rather than repeatedly taking control.
After this step
Use Synchronize pending events when online and the device still has actions waiting.
