Manage tournament status and lifecycle

Understand Standard and Practice tournaments, safe setup edits, completion locks and the exact consequences of deletion.

In this tutorial

1Choose Standard or PracticeChoose the tournament type that matches the event you are organizing.
Standard
Use the normal tournament workflow with the configured visibility, setup mode and authorized paid features.
Practice
Practice stays private and unlisted, keeps registrations free and is limited by the sport-specific player allowance, team allowance and one match. You can have one active Practice tournament for each sport.
Practice expiry
The creation review states that Practice and its tournament data are automatically deleted 72 hours after creation. Use Standard for an event that must be retained.
After this step
Choose the tournament type that matches the event you are organizing.
2Review status and visibilityChoose Draft or Published and Public or Private where the tournament type allows these settings.
Status
Draft and Published control the tournament's configured publication state. Review the player-facing page before sharing.
Visibility
Public tournaments can be discovered through allowed public surfaces. Private tournaments still require the normal access checks. Practice is private and unlisted.
Dates and setup mode
Review sport, start and end dates, venue, categories and Manual teams or Registration plus auction before creation. Later dependencies can lock these choices.
After this step
Choose Draft or Published and Public or Private where the tournament type allows these settings.
3Open the tournament actionsChoose the intended tournament on the organizer dashboard and open its action group.
Tournament setup
Use Tournament overview, Edit settings, Public page, artwork previews and the available registration or roster actions.
Matches and scoring
Use Match center, Tournament scorers and Manage broadcaster when the current lifecycle allows changes.
Auction and presentation
Use the available auction configuration, live operations and presentation actions for an auction tournament.
Fantasy and lifecycle
Open the Fantasy configuration or tournament lifecycle group for that task. Disabled actions explain why the current stage cannot be changed.
After this step
Choose the intended tournament on the organizer dashboard and open its action group.
4Edit settings before they become lockedUse Edit settings when available and review the changed sections before saving.
Started tournament
Standard setup cannot be edited once its start date is reached. Live or completed auction state and registration dependencies can restrict further changes.
Practice editing
Practice setup is editable while its allowed lifecycle permits it. A live or completed auction locks setup, and expired Practice cannot be edited.
Persisted changes
Wait for the server to confirm saving and verify the updated tournament in the activity and player-facing page.
After this step
Use Edit settings when available and review the changed sections before saving.
5Read the competition resultReview champion, runner-up and completion information when the tournament result is resolved.
Completed competition
Completion locks configuration and scorer or broadcaster assignment changes. Open the result roster when the result surface offers it.
Final result under review
Configuration stays locked while the authoritative winner is resolved. Eligible scorers can use the protected score correction workflow.
Correction
A correction request and approved scoring correction have their own permissions. They do not reopen arbitrary tournament setup changes.
After this step
Review champion, runner-up and completion information when the tournament result is resolved.
6Confirm deletion only after reviewing its scopeOpen Delete tournament when available and read the app confirmation before accepting.
Unavailable deletion
Standard live auction, started lifecycle or completion locks can make deletion unavailable. Use the explanation shown rather than trying another entry point.
Practice deletion
The warning lists teams, players, registrations, auction data, fixtures, scores, Fantasy data and uploaded artwork that will be removed with the Practice tournament. User accounts are preserved.
Permanent removal
Confirm only for the exact intended tournament. Wait for Deleting to finish, then verify that the organizer list has refreshed.
After this step
Open Delete tournament when available and read the app confirmation before accepting.
