How to manage football lineups, events, and knockout periods

Confirm lineups, record football events, manage the clock and substitutions, and complete extra time or a penalty shootout when the match rules allow them.

1Open the assigned football matchChoose the intended match from Scorer dashboard and confirm which device controls scoring.
Entry
Choose Upcoming, Live, or Completed, select the match row, and open its offered scoring action. On mobile, open Match actions to reach Scoring control. On desktop, use the header action.
Scoring access
Begin with a practice match that no device controls. In Scoring control, select Start scoring on this device. Wait for the panel to close, reopen it and confirm This device controls scoring and Synced. Close the panel before editing. If another device owns the match, use the scoring-control guide and coordinate the transfer.
Scoring tabs
During play, use Goal, Cards, Subs, Stats, and Match. Each saves a different kind of event. Check the team and clock before saving.
After this step
Choose the intended match from Scorer dashboard and confirm which device controls scoring.
2Confirm starters, goalkeepers, and kick-offAt Football match setup, select the starters required by the displayed match rules for each team.
Lineup wizard
Work through each team's lineup and the final review.
Starting players — Select between the displayed minimum and maximum starters. Unselected eligible squad players remain available as substitutes under the match's rules.
Starting goalkeeper — Select exactly one starting goalkeeper for each team from its selected starters.
Next and Back — Use Next after a valid team selection. Use Back to correct the previous lineup before starting.
Team taking kick-off — On the review step, choose the actual kick-off team and check both confirmed lineups.
Start the match — Submit the final start action only when ready for kick-off. Wait for the live score and period clock, then check the active players. The clock starts with kick-off.
After this step
At Football match setup, select the starters required by the displayed match rules for each team.
3Record goals with the right creditOpen Goal and choose Scoring team and Goal type before the player.
Goal type
Use the referee's decision and the credited team.
Open play / set piece — Choose the Scorer and an Assist if applicable. Assist is optional.
Penalty — Choose Penalty and the Scorer. The normal-play assist field is not used for a penalty goal.
Own goal — Choose the team receiving the goal, then select Opponent responsible from the other team's active players.
Record goal — Save once and check the score, scorer, goal type, and match time before another action.
After this step
Open Goal and choose Scoring team and Goal type before the player.
4Record cautions and send-offsOpen Cards, select Team and Player / substitute, then choose the referee's card.
Card choices
A card can affect player availability and the ability to continue.
Yellow — Record the referee's caution.
Second yellow + red — Use the second-caution dismissal when valid for the selected player's discipline history.
Direct red — Record a direct sending-off when that is the referee's decision.
Reason (optional) — Add a short explanation when useful, then choose Record referee decision.
Player / substitute — The current list can include active, bench, and substituted-out players. During a shootout, it is restricted to active eligible shootout players.
Below the minimum — If a send-off leaves a team below the configured minimum, ordinary continuation is blocked. Record the referee's abandonment decision or undo a mistaken send-off.
Missing goalkeeper — Nominate an on-field replacement, make a legal substitution, or undo a mistaken send-off before play continues.
After this step
Open Cards, select Team and Player / substitute, then choose the referee's card.
5Record substitutions and goalkeeper changesUse Subs for player changes and Match for a goalkeeper already on the field.
Subs
Record the substitution after it has actually been completed.
Team — Select the side making the change.
Player off — Choose an active on-field player.
Player on — Choose an eligible bench player. Sent-off players are not available.
Stoppage window — Keep the same window for multiple changes made at one stoppage. Choose Start a new window for a later stoppage.
Intervals and extra time — Break or interval substitutions do not consume a stoppage window. Extra-time availability follows the configured rules and match phase.
Record completed substitution — Save and verify both players. If substitution or return limits reject the change, follow the configured rules instead of adding a different event to bypass them.
Change goalkeeper
In Match, choose Goalkeeper team and New goalkeeper (on field), then Change goalkeeper. This nominates an already active player. Use a legal substitution first if the intended player is still on the bench.
After this step
Use Subs for player changes and Match for a goalkeeper already on the field.
6Add player or team statisticsOpen Stats, choose Team and Statistic, and select the player where required.
Statistic choices
Each press of Add one records one occurrence.
Shot on target — Credit the relevant active player.
Shot off target — Credit the relevant active player.
Goalkeeper save — The player list is restricted to the nominated goalkeeper.
Tackle — Credit the active player making the tackle.
Interception — Credit the active player making the interception.
Corner — A player is optional for this team statistic.
Foul — Credit the appropriate player.
Offside — Credit the appropriate player.
Check before repeating
Wait for the action to finish and review the event. Use Undo latest event to reverse a mistaken latest event instead of adding a compensating statistic.
After this step
Open Stats, choose Team and Statistic, and select the player where required.
7Manage the clock, added time, and intervalsUse the scoreboard clock controls and the Match tab in line with the referee's decisions.
Clock controls
The period clock gives the time attached to events. For this separate practice match, open Scoring control and choose Start scoring on this device. Wait for the panel to close, reopen it and check ownership and sync before using Match.
Pause match clock — Pause when the match's clock should stop.
Resume match clock — Resume the paused clock when play timing restarts.
Minimum added time — In Match, enter the announced minimum for the current period and choose Announce added time. The input allows up to 60 minutes and cannot reduce an already announced minimum.
End period — Wait until the displayed remaining time has elapsed. End period stays disabled before the configured minimum plus added time has been reached.
Start next period — During the interval, select the next regulation period when offered. Check the period number before play resumes.
Extra time — If regulation ends level and extra time is enabled, start the offered extra-time period. Availability follows the configured period and result rules.
End match — Use this only when enabled by the completed-period and result rules. Read a disabled action's explanation rather than closing the match early.

Use the scoreboard clock controls and the Match tab in line with the referee's decisions.
8Confirm eligibility and record the penalty shootoutStart a shootout only when the teams remain level after all periods required by the match rules.
Before starting
The Match tab offers the shootout only when penalties are enabled and the required regulation or extra-time periods have finished. For this separate practice match, open Scoring control and choose Start scoring on this device. Wait for the panel to close, reopen it and check ownership and sync before using Match.
First kicking team — Choose the team that will take the first kick.
Eligible players — Confirm the displayed equal number of active eligible players for each team. If the sides have different available numbers, record which players are excluded.
Start penalty shootout — Check both team selections, then start. An incomplete or unequal eligibility selection is rejected.
Next kick and Kicker — Check the next team shown and select its eligible kicker for each attempt. Follow the eligibility and kicker-order validation supplied by the match.
Scored — Record a successful kick.
Missed — Record a missed kick.
Saved — Record a saved kick.
Forfeited — Record the official forfeited-kick outcome.
Confirm final result — Once the shootout is decided and the result is valid, confirm the final result. Review the normal score and the separate shootout score.
After this step
Start a shootout only when the teams remain level after all periods required by the match rules.
9Suspend play or confirm abandonmentUse the Match tab for a referee's suspension or abandonment decision.
Match decisions
These controls are available during ordinary scoring. Approved correction mode does not offer the normal suspension and abandonment controls. For this separate practice match, open Scoring control and choose Start scoring on this device. Wait for the panel to close, reopen it and check ownership and sync before using Match.
Suspend — Enter the optional Suspension / abandonment reason and choose Suspend. Check that the match is suspended.
Resume match — While suspended, review or enter the suspension note and choose Resume match when play is authorized to restart.
Abandon — Enter the referee's reason and open Abandon. A nonempty reason is required for confirmation.
Keep match open — Cancel the abandonment confirmation when it is not the intended decision.
Confirm abandonment — Confirm after reading the reason. Wait through Closing and check the final closed state.
Completed match — Ordinary Undo and scoring stop after completion. Use the approved completed-score correction workflow if a final result needs repair.
After this step
Use the Match tab for a referee's suspension or abandonment decision.
