How to score a football match

Record football goals, cards, substitutions, statistics, clock changes, referee decisions, period completion, and the final result.

In this tutorial

1Open the assigned football matchMove from the Organizer dashboard to the Scorer dashboard and open the assigned live match.
Scorer dashboard
Open it from the account and workspace menu. It lists only matches assigned to the signed-in scorer.
Assigned live match
Open the reserved tutorial football fixture. Its synchronized starting checkpoint and every following mutation are isolated by variant.
Scoring control
On desktop this action is in the match header. On mobile, open Match actions first and then choose Scoring control.
After this step
The assigned live football match opens with Scoring control ready on both desktop and mobile.
2Open live scoringClaim this prepared match on the tutorial device.
Start scoring on this device
Checks that no other device owns the match, creates the local lease, and keeps events ordered against the server revision.
Synchronization
Online events publish immediately; offline events queue only on the prepared device until it reconnects.
Handover
A real scorer handover is a separate controlled workflow and is not demonstrated here.
After this step
The current device owns the live football scoring lease.
3Know the five tabsUse Goal, Cards, Subs, Stats, and Match without leaving the pad.
Goal
Records open-play, set-piece, penalty, and own-goal outcomes with the correct player fields.
Cards
Records the referee's yellow, second-yellow, or direct-red decision.
Subs
Moves an active player off and an eligible bench player on under the match substitution rules.
Stats
Adds one validated team or player statistic at the current period time.
Match
Controls periods, added time, goalkeeper changes, suspension, abandonment, and final completion.
After this step
All five football action tabs are visible and the Goal tab is selected.
4Record a goalChoose the scoring team, goal type, scorer, and optional assist.
Scoring team
Credits the goal to the selected team and limits scorer and assist choices to its active players.
Goal type
Changes which player fields are required.
Open play / set piece: Requires the scorer and allows a different active teammate as an optional assist.
Penalty: Requires the scorer and records the goal as a match penalty, without an assist field.
Own goal: Credits the selected scoring team but requires the responsible active opponent instead of a scorer.
Record goal
Saves the current period and clock time with the goal so the score and audit ledger update together.
Generic Goal credit
The match stores one Goal credit for the scorer. When Fantasy points apply, the organizer's single Goal rule is used regardless of playing position; legacy position-specific values are compatibility fallbacks only.
After this step
A normal goal with an assist is added to the football ledger.
5Undo and re-enter a goalReverse the last active ledger event, then record the corrected goal.
Undo latest event
Reverses only the newest active score event on this device and keeps an append-only audit history.
When to use it
Use it immediately for an incorrect player, event type, or referee decision before recording later events.
Re-enter the correction
After the reversal succeeds, select the verified scorer and optional assist again and save the corrected goal.
Completed match
Undo is locked after match completion; completed-score correction is a separate Super Admin-governed workflow and is outside this tutorial.
After this step
The original goal is reversed, its corrected replacement is saved, and the append-only ledger retains the audit trail.
6Record an own goalCredit the scoring team and name the responsible opponent.
Own goal team
Choose the team whose score increases, not the team of the responsible player.
Opponent responsible
Shows active players from the other team and stores the selected player as the own-goal attribution.
Assist
No assist is accepted for an own-goal event.
After this step
An own goal is credited to the selected scoring team with the responsible opponent recorded.
7Record cardsSave the referee's card, player, and optional reason.
Player / substitute
Allows an active player, eligible substitute, or already substituted player when the laws permit the disciplinary record.
Card
Choose the exact referee decision.
Yellow: Records one caution and leaves the player active or available.
Second yellow + red: Records the second caution and sends the player off; it is valid only after a first yellow.
Direct red: Sends the player off immediately and may trigger minimum-player or missing-goalkeeper warnings.
Reason
Optional referee note, limited to 200 characters.
After this step
A yellow-card referee decision is added without changing the active line-up.
8Record a substitutionMove one active player off and one bench player on.
Player off
Lists only active, on-field players for the selected team.
Player on
Lists eligible bench players who have not been sent off.
Stoppage window
Groups substitutions made at one stoppage for opportunity limits.
Keep current window: Use for another substitution completed during the same stoppage.
Start a new window: Use when play stopped again later; this may consume another opportunity.
Interval changes
Substitutions recorded while the match is at an interval do not consume a stoppage opportunity.
After this step
The selected bench player becomes active and the outgoing player is marked as substituted.
9Add match statisticsCredit one supported statistic at the current match time.
Statistic
Adds one count for the selected type.
Shot on target: Credits an active player with an attempt requiring a save or resulting in a goal.
Shot off target: Credits an active player with an attempt that misses without a save.
Goalkeeper save: Allows only the selected team's current nominated goalkeeper.
Tackle: Credits an active player with one completed tackle.
Interception: Credits an active player with one interception.
Corner: Can be recorded for the team without selecting a player.
Foul: Credits an active player with one foul.
Offside: Credits an active player with one offside.
Add one
Stores one increment at the current period and elapsed match time.
After this step
One shot on target is recorded for an active player.
10Pause and resume the clockStop the match clock for an official pause, then continue from the exact time.
Pause
Freezes the current period clock at the server-validated elapsed second.
Resume
Restarts projection from the exact paused value, preventing gaps or duplicate elapsed time.
Added time
Normal injury or stoppage time is announced separately from the Match tab and does not require pausing the clock.
After this step
A clock-pause event and matching resume event are added at the correct period time.
11Suspend the matchRecord a temporary referee decision with a clear note.
Suspension reason
Optional for suspension but strongly recommended; it is limited to 300 characters.
Suspend
Stops active play at the current validated time without closing the result.
Goalkeeper change
The same Match tab can nominate another active, unsent-off player if the goalkeeper changes during play.
After this step
The match is suspended with its clock fixed and the reason retained.
12Understand abandonmentReconfirm this device after the suspension refresh, then review the permanent-close warning.
Scoring control
After the suspended state refreshes, confirm that this prepared device still owns the scoring lease before opening another referee decision.
Abandon
Use only after the referee confirms that the match will not resume; the reason is required.
Confirm abandonment
Permanently closes scoring as abandoned while preserving every ledger event.
Keep match open
Cancels the confirmation and leaves the match suspended; this is the safe tutorial choice.
After this step
Scoring ownership is reconciled, the abandonment warning is reviewed, and the match remains suspended.
13Resume after suspensionReturn to live play, reconfirm scoring control after the refresh, then restart the paused clock.
Resume note
Optional text can record why play restarted or any updated referee instruction.
Resume match
Restores the match to the phase and status held before suspension while leaving the clock paused until the scorer explicitly restarts it.
After this step
The match returns to live play, scoring ownership is reconciled, and the clock is explicitly restarted from its exact suspended value.
14Finish the periodReconfirm control after each refresh, announce one minute of added time, then finish the period.
Minimum added time
Records the referee's minimum added minutes for the current period; a later announcement can increase but not reduce it.
End period
Becomes available only after the nominal period time plus announced added time has elapsed.
Next period
When another regulation or extra-time period is configured and required, the interval panel offers Start period. This prepared demo has one final practice period.
After this step
Scoring ownership is reconciled after both refreshes, one minute of added time is announced, and the configured final period moves to the interval state.
15End and lock the matchReconfirm control after the interval refresh, then publish and lock the final result.
End match
Validates that all configured phases are complete and derives the correct winner or draw from the ledger.
Locked result
Normal scoring and Undo are unavailable after completion; the final event ledger remains auditable.
Corrections
Completed-score correction requires a written request and approval; that Super Admin workflow is outside this tutorial.
After this step
Scoring ownership is reconciled after the interval refresh, then the final football result is published and normal scoring controls are locked.
16Confirm the locked resultThe completed football result is read-only.
Match complete
Shows the final result derived from the accepted football events.
Audit safety
The event ledger is preserved; completion does not delete prior goals, cards, substitutions, statistics, or referee decisions.
After this step
A locked completion panel confirms that live scoring is closed.

Expected result

A safe synthetic football match has an audited goal, card, substitution, statistic, suspension and resume, completed period, and locked final result.
